Apparently, the Durango has a tail lamp out. Cop was super cool, just gave me a warning. It's the second time I've been pulled over while I was driving. Last time was in 2010, warning then as well. Guess I'm lucky.

That sucks. Just be cool, don't act suspicious, and if that fails, unbutton your shirt a bit.

I forget if it was 2010 or 2011 but one of those years I got pulled over 7 times.

Where did it happen? Cumberland City, MD State, or Allegany Sheriff? I'm friends with a few city and C3I officers. With tail-light stops, they're usually just looking for drugs.

LOL

Also be honest

I got pulled late at night once. I was driving WAY too fast. I apologized to the cop and told him that I had a really long day in the office and shouldn't have driven that fast. He let me go with a warning

Just a city cop. Can't remember his name. I know a couple city cops as well. They're mostly cool

Ha. First time I got pulled over was the day I took my Infiniti off the lot, that night. Stupid me forgot to turn on my headlights. I pulled just out of a doing center and got nailed right there.

I went to High School with officer Athey. She knows my parents (for better or worse) as well. If they're not a prick she usually just lets people go over anything similar. She's a PA native, so she doesn't take it as over-the-top seriously as some of the others in Maryland. We got along really well in school because she's just a flat-out decent person.

I don't think I know her. Most of the female officers I've run across were kind of mean and scary. I know officer Bennett and shrout, not sure if you know of them. That's cool though, i'll keep an eye out for her to pull me over lol

Thank god. Tickets are a huge pain. In PA tickets can often cost up to $110 for minor infractions once court cost and other fees are added

Shrout, yes, but not Bennett. I know John Sagal of C3I, but if you're talking to him - you're probably beyond help, haha. That's specifically why I mentioned Ashley. She's the only non-harsh female officer that I've come in to contact with. I think it's just that region, man. NYPD male officers are just as numbly brutal as female officers. They can be nice as shit to your face, but the minute they see another office dealing with an issue (regardless of the circumstance) they go in to pack-hunt mode and completely change persona. It can be really scary. People steal from the retail store I work in, at least, twice a day. We have multiple NYPD officers on-duty on every floor. They're always nice to me, because I have a name tag and a tie.

the nice thing about my car is it has automatic headlights that turn on at night so if I forget (which I try to run them during the day as well, especially in the morning) I don't have to worry about it. its a 2000 mercury mountaineer.

That's insane. Maybe because it's new York I suppose. Still, seems a lot rougher than back home. I guess that's part of living there, though.

If there were 8 million people between Frostburg and Lavale, it'd be the same way. I keep telling Ny'ers that don't seem to understand: I prefer the danger here. Here, people come up out of the subway and attack police with hatchets (as of last week.) Which is scary, but nowhere near as scary as the guy that they just caught in PA, staking out police barracks at night. At least the crazy of NYC is in your face, not behind your back.

Auto headlights are nice. Try to remember to double check them every time someone else drives your car/it goes to a Body Shop or Garage. A lot of times they've turned mine off and I sometimes forget to put it back to auto.

You make a good point. In new York, you know what to expect, and you can be prepared easier, because it's not if crime will be committed, but when. And yes, I can imagine it would be in your face. More people in a much more densely packed area, much higher chance of something happening. The thing with the PA cop killer was scary though, as close as the state line is, in more than one direction. I mean, when you can drive half an hour and get to PA by three different routes, that's a little discomforting while someone like that is on the loose. Cumberland is getting bad with crime, too. Someone got their house broken into last couple weeks, and their dog was stabbed and killed. I mean, how fucked up is that, seriously? I'm sure NYC is far worse, but Cumberland has been kinda scary lately. I lived on the worst part of town for a year and a half, and the shit I saw and heard, well let's just say, I feel much safer that my family and I are out of that end of town.
